Supporting the Gate

We don't compromise on quality or materials. The average 7' wide gate leaf weighs 350 pounds. Because of this weight, we recommend using flange ball bearing hinges. As illustrated, our typical fabrication includes a 3⁄4" cold rolled steel pin which is attached to the concealed internal steel frame both top and bottom. This steel pin extends through the gate 3" to allow for the connection of the flange bearing. The flange bearing is then bolted to a "T" strap which can be purchased from us.  The "T" strap is either embedded into a masonry column or welded to a steel post.  We do not recommend wood posts for our driveway gates.  If you like a wood post we can make a wood wrapped steel post for you.
